Becoming a member

It's free to join your local library. We just need to know a little bit about you. If you're under 16, you'll need a parent or guardian to let us know it's OK for you to join.

Read the details below, then click through to the form and fill it in. Once you've registered, your account will work straight away so you can download ebooks and eaudiobooks, and reserve items to pick up from the library branch of your choice.

You can come into any of our libraries within the next six weeks to collect your brand new library card.

The rules

• Books are for reading
• You can borrow up to 15 things at any one time
• Those 15 things can be books, DVDs or CDs, depending on your age
• If 15 things seems like a lot, don't worry: we sell stylish canvas tote bags
• You can reserve up to 15 things at any one time: we'll pick them for you if they're on the shelf, or we'll snag them as soon as someone returns them
• There's no charge for reservations*
• There are no overdue fines when your library loans are late*
• We'll need your email address so we can send you information about your library account: when your loans are due back, when your reservations are ready to collect, and when your membership is due to expire
• You can sign up to get emails about library news and events, but that's your choice
• Membership is for one year, and can be renewed as many times as you like
